Twitter is rolling out details for a subscription-based feature that will provide exclusive access to your fave digital creators for $4.99/mo.

It’s called Super Follow and it’s shocking tweeters everywhere!

Twitter is known for keeping things simple. Twitter Fleets, a duplicate of the already existing Instagram and Snapchat stories, was released only five months ago. And who could forget the historic day when character counts were finally expanded for tweets?! We thought it’d never happen.

Twitter’s slow transition to offering updated posting features has been a hurdle for serious content creators. Their digital skills are quickly outgrowing the limits of major social media platforms.

While platforms like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram are great for sharing specific types of content, (like Twitter for quick thoughts, or Instagram for aesthetic imagery), content creators are looking for online environments that accommodate more creativity per platform.

Super Follow is a giant leap forward for the social network and for digital creators looking to show off their talent. They look to social media as a major part of their entrepreneurial journey and use it to maintain functional audience exposure.

But will Twitter’s Super Follow membership succeed in building a place for creators to thrive? With diffusion theory, we can confidently predict it will!

Diffusion theory examines the spread of innovation through a population, like Twitter’s Super Follow making its way through the current social media landscape.

It breaks down the innovation-decision process to project the feature’s success. Here’s the five-stage breakdown:

Knowledge of the Innovation

Creators and audiences must be informed of the membership for it to work. Good thing digital creators are experts at communicating to their audiences!

Persuasion

This is all about forming a positive attitude toward Super Follow. Content creators will likely be in favor of the feature because it provides an option for them to earn revenue for their creative works and foster their growing fan base on an already popular platform. Exclusive content will bring in audiences.

Decision to Accept

Audiences have already made the effort to search out their favorite creators amongst a variety of other social media sites. Looking at these behaviors, it seems the decision to accept Twitter’s new feature has already been made!

Implementation

As they dive in, creators and audiences will have the opportunity to compare the convenience of a content membership on a major social platform with that of others. A smooth transition is expected from audience participation seen on similar platforms like Patreon.

Confirmation

Word of mouth is powerful, especially in the digital environment. Positive user reviews will easily be shared through Twitter threads, retweets, and fleets. This could lead to the possibility of replacing other creative platforms with Twitter.

If all goes as planned, Twitter’s new subscription service will streamline the content creators’ efforts to produce high-quality creative pieces and share them with their digital community. Looking forward to Twitter helping digital creators be seen!
